These popular meds can crack your hip

Sleep tonight… pain tomorrow.

Connected? They certainly could be, if you get that shuteye with the help of sleeping pills — because the latest science shows how those drugs can leave you so loopy the next morning you could fall down.

And that, in turn, could crack your bones like dried-out twigs.

All for 11 measly extra minutes of sleep!

That, my friend, is that average amount of extra snooze time folks get from those meds.

The mainstream “experts” must have a broken bone in the head to think that’s a tradeoff worth making… yet those bone-brains keep pushing the pills on anyone and everyone with a sleep problem, making them some of the top-selling drugs in the nation.

Seniors are paying the price as a result, as new research finds they can lead directly to a cracked hip.

The new study focused on two types of popular sleeping pills: benzodiazepines, which include anti-anxiety meds often used for sleep such as Xanax, and Z-drugs, a class that includes top sellers like Ambien, Lunesta, and Sonata.

The commercials make it seem like some kind of magical glowing butterfly is going to visit you in the night and help you sleep.

In reality, they can leave you so messed up that you’ll be staggering like a drunk.

Within two weeks of starting on either a benzodiazepine or a Z-drug, your risk of a broken hip jumps by nearly TWO AND A HALF times!

The risk drops after that, but it’s still way too high.

After two weeks on the meds, your risk of a broken hip is 53 percent higher.

And after a month, it’s still 20 percent higher.

Try to sleep easy knowing that!

A broken hip isn’t just an injury. It can be a life-wrecker that can cause you to lose your independence and maybe even your LIFE, as broken hips can TRIPLE your odds of death within a year.

On the other hand, if you’re taking those meds, you might not need a broken hip to send you to the grave.

The drugs themselves can do the job!

One study a few years back found that popular sleeping pills can increase your risk of death by as much as 500 percent.

Don’t sign up for those risks.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, try a little brandy in warm milk. If that doesn’t do the trick, switch to the sleep hormone melatonin, which can help you both fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
