World’s dumbest weight-loss scheme is also dangerous

It’s an idea so terrible it sounds like a bad joke.

The latest weight loss scheme – fully approved by the FDA – involves stuffing a pair of silicon balloons into your body, kind of like the ones used in boob jobs.

But these aren’t put in your chest.

They’re deflated, crammed down your throat and dropped into your stomach, where they’re pumped full of saline.

That’s supposed to fill your gut so you eat less.

Now, two years after approving it, the FDA has just figured out that this is way more dangerous than they thought.

Someone should sign these geniuses up for a subscription to the Daily Dose – because you read about the risks right here ages ago, when this was just a twinkle in Big Pharma’s greedy little eyes.

Back then, you read about how the balloons can burst, filling your belly with saline. You were also warned about how a broken balloon can plug up the stomach, clogging its “drain,” which is a medical emergency.

And a third of all patients end up living with the misery of an ulcer from that balloon rubbing up and down against the lining of the stomach.

Now, the FDA has found even MORE risks.

First, the balloons can be over-inflated and have to be popped and yanked out. It’s unpleasant, but probably not TOO big a deal… not when you compare it to the OTHER new risk the FDA is warning of.

The agency says this treatment can cause your pancreas to practically turn into a balloon, too.

The balloons seem to smush up all your digestive organs, which get smashed together and puts pressure on your pancreas, leading to pancreatitis.

The FDA needs to pop this balloon scheme NOW before someone gets seriously hurt, because that’s one organ you don’t want to screw with.

Instead, they’re telling docs to “closely monitor” patients and “submit reports” when problems pop up.

But these aren’t the only risks of weight-loss balloons.

ReShape, one of the balloon systems covered by the new warning, has a message on its website saying it can cause “ulceration, perforation, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, belching, heartburn, dehydration, and sore throat.”

That’s not a diet.

That’s a nightmare!

When it comes to weight loss, forget these and all the other dopey and dangerous gimmicks out there.

Even if you need to drop a lot of weight, you don’t need them.

You can lose weight faster, more effectively and more safely with a little bit of time and much less effort than you think – and all you need is a back-to-basics low-carb diet.
