Ditch the daffy new hunger strike diet

Usually they wait for the New Year to start with these dopey stories!

It’s only November, yet there’s a daffy new “fad diet” making the rounds — and like all of them, this one promises that doing just ONE THING differently can help you lose weight.

Ready for it?

All you have to do is… STOP EATING!

OK, I’m exaggerating. They don’t want you to stop eating completely. In fact, you can eat as many calories as you normally do… as long as you eat them between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

If you can just NOT EAT for the other 18 hours a day, you’ll supposedly burn off calories more efficiently.

The downside? Assuming you sleep about seven hours a night, that means going 11 hours without so much as a nibble EVERY SINGLE DAY.

The researchers claim people eventually “get used to it” and stop being hungry at dinnertime.

But I’d say they’re not just “hungry.” The more accurate term for this would be “starvation,” or a defense mechanism that eventually kills off hunger pangs when your body realizes no food’s coming.

In any case, in exchange for this massively inconvenient new lifestyle… one in which dinner with your pals means the super early-bird special (a.k.a. “lunch”)… your body might metabolize fat a little better.

It’s not even a 24-hour benefit.

Apparently, going hungry for eight or nine hours before bedtime improves how your internal fat-burners operate while you’re asleep. The rest of the time, not much changes.

So is it worth it? Not on your life!

Not only is this stupid gimmick not going to lead to much weight loss, it’s absolutely unsustainable over the long run.

Who the heck can live like that?!

Fortunately, you DON’T have to skip dinner or any other meals — and you don’t need some trendy new gimmick — to burn fat better and get into the best shape of your life.
