Natural depression cures

BEAT THE BLUES WITHOUT DRUGS

Most of the people taking heavy-duty antidepressant drugs wouldn’t know a real case of depression if it bit them on the you-know-what.

Sorry, my friend, but it’s true: People, especially younger folks, turn to these drugs the moment they feel a little bit sad over just about any little thing——or even nothing at all——and that’s why some 30 million Americans are taking these meds at this very moment. Meanwhile, REAL cases of depression get ignored.

They get ignored because real depression tends to strike older folks who want to tough it out——folks who know that life comes with ups and downs, and think they’ll snap out of it any day now.

But that’s the thing about REAL depression. You don’t snap out of it——and then, you put yourself at risk for other conditions, because REAL depression can cause inflammation throughout the body. It can interfere with sleep, which is critical to overall health, and increase your risk of heart attack, stroke and more.

One new study even finds depression can shorten the telomeres, or the little caps that sit on the end of your genes. The shorter your telomeres, the higher your risk of disease and death. It’s the closest thing you’ll find to an expiration date on your body.

So when you’re hit with REAL depression, don’t tough it out. You need help——and I don’t mean some drug-pushing quack-chiatrist, but real solutions that tackle the cause of the problem: nutritional deficiencies, missing neurotransmitters and problems with your body’s stress response.

In some cases, depression is caused by just one of those problems. In others, it’s two or even all three. But you don’t have to play trial-and-error to see which one is causing you to sing the blues, because I recently came across a potent nutrient blend that’s…

A ONE-STOP SHOP FOR FIGHTING DEPRESSION

It’s called InJoy, and it starts with two of my favorite brain-boosting nutrients: vitamin B12 and folate. These two essentials are so critical to brain support that I recommend them to anyone interested in protecting mood, memory and more.

And in many cases, boosting these B vitamins alone will chase depression away. But many other cases aren’t so simple——and that’s where InJoy really shines, because it also contains two amino acids that are absolutely critical to your noggin: 5-HTP and tyrosine.

5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that often goes AWOL in depressed people.

Drugs “work” (if you can call it that) by trying to trick the serotonin you have into sticking around longer. 5-HTP on the other hand works without tricks, getting your body to produce more——and that’s why studies have shown it can work as well as some depression meds (but without the risks). And along with lifting your mood, 5-HTP is an effective weapon against anxiety and panic attacks, and can even improve your sleep.

Next we have Tyrosine. Tyrosine helps the brain produce a different neurotransmitter: norepinephrine. That’s the little alarm clock in your head that gets you up and moving——the brain chemical that helps with your motivation and fights apathy. (Maybe if Americans had a little more norepinephrine, we wouldn’t be stuck with ObamaCare… or President Obama, for that matter.)

It’s a different way of lifting the mood, but it works: One study found tyrosine can cut depression scores in half within a month——and another study found you might even feel the benefits in as little as a single day.

And along with B12, folate, 5-HTP and tyrosine, InJoy has two time-tested herbs that I like to think of as…

ANCIENT ANSWERS TO MODERN STRESS

The first is schisandra chinesis, known in China as the “five-flavor” berry because it holds all five major flavors: salty, sweet, sour, hot and bitter. Put it in soup, and you might not even need any other ingredients.

But forget what it does to your food. It’s what it does inside your body that’s really amazing. Schisandra can stimulate the central nervous system without overloading it, restoring balance to put you into a naturally good mood instead of turning you into some kind of Prozac zombie.

The other, ocimum sanctum, is known in India as holy basil.

It’s not just a name; they perform morning prayers in front of it. They believe it brings spiritual strength, and who knows there might just be something to it. One human study finds holy basil can reduce the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder, including both stress and depression. In other words, it really can lift your spirits in a manner of speaking.

On its own, each ingredient in InJoy is a potent mood booster. But together, this just might be the most powerful weapon against depression yet.

InJoy is made by Redd Remedies, and a one-month supply is $39.99. But I’ve spoken to the folks at Redd and arranged a special offer for my readers: Spend $50 or more on any combination of Redd Remedies, and you’ll get 20 percent off through April 30, 2014. Simply use code TDR0414 when ordering online at www.reddremedies.com or by phone at (888) 453-5058. This discount is only available in the U.S. (Sorry, overseas readers).

One note of caution: If you’re already taking an antidepressant, don’t try InJoy without speaking to your doctor. Combining treatments that target serotonin could lead to a potentially serious condition called serotonin syndrome. A naturopathic physician can help safely wean you off the dangerous meds so you can give InJoy a try.
