Sweep dementia damage right out of your brain!
Amyloid-beta is a peptide that forms the plaques found in the brains of dementia patients. Scientists don’t know how or why they form, but they do know one thing: When those plaques start building up, dementia usually isn’t too far behind.
You can’t wipe that plaque away with a drug, and there’s no surgery that can repair your brain once it shows up.
But vitamin D3——that’s the natural form of the vitamin, as opposed to the synthetic and worthless D2——can actually switch on a gene that turns your own white blood cells into plaque-seeking missiles.
Once they get the signal, the white blood cells find plaque… engulf it… and carry it off.
It’s like having a team of solar-powered assassins on your side!
The same study found that curcumin has a similar effect. That’s a powerful anti-inflammatory found in the spice that gives curry such an exciting taste.
Some people would eat dirt before they would eat curry. Personally I like curry, but maybe I should try dirt; it’s cheaper.
Fortunately, curcumin is widely available in supplement form, and adding one to your own regimen isn’t a bad idea since the benefits go way beyond dementia protection.
For more on that, see page 3. But right now, let’s focus on D——because this new study didn’t just come out of the clear, blue sky. The evidence has been building for decades now, including dozens of studies published in the last few years alone.
Here’s the Douglass Report version:
- A 2010 study of 810 Italian seniors found those with blood levels of D below 25 nanomoles per liter were 60 percent more likely to suffer substantial cognitive decline.
- In 2009, Tufts researchers found that seniors with low D had double the risk of dementia, “Alzheimer’s disease,” and stroke.
- That same year, Cambridge researchers found that seniors with the lowest blood levels of D had 2.3 times the risk of cognitive impairment of those with the highest——especially men.
- Also in 2009, a French study of women over the age of 75 found that those with the lowest D levels had cognitive problems such as memory loss and even an inability to do simple math.
All over the world, researchers are reaching the same conclusion. And that’s not even close to all the evidence… that’s just some of the most recent evidence
Other studies have found that high levels of vitamin D can boost memory, slash brain inflammation and even stimulate the growth of nerve cells in the brain.
But unless you’ve been taking my advice…
You’re probably badly deficient in vitamin D
Up to 90 percent of seniors suffer from suboptimal D levels (you’ll recognize the other 10 percent by the tan). You could get a blood test to help figure out where you stand, but that would be a waste of time——because you almost certainly need more.
There are two easy ways to get it. One’s cheap, the other’s free. Trouble is, you’ve been told to keep away from both.
You know the free one too well, even if you haven’t seen her lately. You might be ignoring her, but she’s not ignoring you——she’s hanging around outside your window for roughly 12 hours each day, like a jilted lover just hoping for a glimpse.
It’s the sun!
Exposure to the sun is the easiest way to get your body’s hormone factory working more efficiently than the Chinese plants that crank out iPads.
And when your solar-powered factory is operating full steam, you get something a lot more valuable than some trendy gadget.
You get timeless vitamin D.
But that alone won’t be enough for many people. That’s why I recommend a D supplement even for people who live in sunny climates, just to make sure they get what they need.
Naturally, the powers-that-be at the Institute of Medicine say you don’t need that supplement… that most people get all the D they need already… and that all you need is 600 IU a day anyway.
But those same geniuses also claim that 10,000 IU of vitamin D is DEADLY——despite the fact that you’ll get at least that much or more from 30 minutes of ordinary sun exposure on the beach.
I go to the beach a lot, and I haven’t had to step over any dead bodies there yet.
You want this stuff——you need it!——and don’t trust anyone who tells you otherwise. Your own needs will vary, but 4,000 IU is a good start for most
