One common dental procedure could be to blame for
arthritis, heart disease, and more!

What I’m about to tell you is so shocking that most people dismiss the idea as absurd——and you might too by the end of this article. But before you roll your eyes and turn the TV on, ask yourself this question… What if it’s true?

Over 100 years ago, Dr. Weston A. Price and a team of 60 researchers set off to search for the cause of dental decay. To find answers, he studied groups of people who had strong, healthy teeth. He found what he was looking for among isolated groups of people——Eskimos of North America, African tribes, Australian Aborigines, Gaelic communities, to name a few.

No matter what part of the world he was in, he came to the same conclusion: Good nutrition is the foundation for healthy teeth and gums. Despite their “primitive” ways, all of these people had beautiful, straight teeth, no decay, and strong resistance to disease. They also ate traditional diets that were high in calcium, minerals, and fat-soluble vitamins, and low in the sugar, white flour, and preservatives common in our more “civilized” culture.

After 25 years of research (sponsored by the American Dental Association, by the way), Dr. Price stumbled upon another fascinating discovery:

Heart disease, circulatory diseases, arthritis, kidney and bladder disease, brain diseases, and other degenerative diseases… you name it, and they could be traced back to root-filled teeth.

If you think that sounds crazy, just wait until you hear how Price made this important discovery…

Dr. Price removed an infected tooth from a patient who also happened to be suffering from severe arthritis. That part was pretty straightforward, but what happened next should have changed the future of medicine. After he removed the infected tooth, the woman’s arthritis symptoms practically disappeared overnight.

That’s fascinating in and of itself, but it gets better. Price implanted the infected tooth beneath the skin of a healthy rabbit. Two days later it was crippled with arthritis. Over the next few years, Price conducted hundreds of experiments that all revealed the same thing: The toxins present in the infected tooth caused the animal to develop the same disease as the person from whom the tooth was extracted. When he implanted a healthy tooth, the rabbit did not develop any disease.

But how could arthritis originate from a single tooth?

I get that question all the time. And the answer always comes back to Dr. Price’s focal theory of infection——that an infection in one place can cause symptoms in another area of your body. In fact, this is 100 percent accepted in the medical community today——which makes me wonder why medical professionals find it so absurd that root filled teeth could be the cause of any number of diseases throughout your body.

The main problems with root canals are that…

(1) The infection that led to the root canal is never 100 percent cleared out during the root canal procedure.
(2) The root canal filling material can’t completely seal up the tooth, which allows toxins to escape and enter your bloodstream.

When you understand the structure of the tooth, it’s easy to see why.

Every tooth contains miles of tiny tunnels that transport nourishment from the tooth’s blood supply to all parts of your tooth. After a root canal, the tubules remain in tact, but the fluid no longer flows in and out. This “dead zone” becomes the perfect place for anaerobic bacteria to set up camp.

Even during the sterilization process of the root canal therapy, the bacteria inside the dentin tubules often remain untouched. Then, to make matters worse, that same bacteria have a tendency to become smaller and more virulent, with much more poisonous toxins.

If the toxins stayed inside the tooth, none of this would be an issue. But they don’t. These toxins can leak from the tooth, enter the bloodstream, and get transported to other areas of the body. At that point, you’ll be hit with recurring infection wherever the toxins decide to set up camp.

And if you think you can rely on antibiotics to clear up the infection for you, don’t hold your breath, because…

Antibiotics are COMPLETELY USELESS against the bacteria living inside a root-filled tooth.

Because your tooth is now dead, it doesn’t have a blood supply to its interior, which means that antibiotics have no way of getting to the bacteria. In fact, the only people who aren’t affected are those with rock-solid immune systems. And let’s face it. These days, those people are few and far between.

So what’s the solution?

The problem with avoiding root canals is that no one likes the alternative——having the tooth pulled. Get a grip, people. Are we really that vain that we’d rather risk suffering from life-altering, sometimes life-threatening, and always pocket-emptying illnesses like heart disease, arthritis, and brain disease? All to save one lousy tooth?

I say pull the darn thing——and the sooner the better.

But, as Dr. George Meinig points out in his book, Root Canal Cover-up Exposed, just having the tooth pulled is not enough. Because the infection can often set in within the tissues and bones around the tooth as well, he recommends that the dentist use a burr to remove both the periodontal ligament as well as part of the bone that lines the socket. You don’t need to know all of the why’s and wherefore’s about it, but you should ask your dentist about his methods before he does any drilling, pulling, or filling.

Until we figure out a way to kill off all of the bacteria in the dentin tubules and the surrounding bone, the BEST thing you can do is to focus on preventing tooth decay to begin with. As Dr. Price discovered so long ago, the best way to do that is through your diet. Eliminate all processed food, sugar, and white flour——and stick to whole foods instead.
