Why meat-eaters have the best sex

 “They’re going at it like rabbits!”

It’s a pretty popular expression for an even more popular activity. But I’d like to make one thing clear… Rabbits are just about the only animals on Earth that can get away with a vegetarian diet and still have that kind of sex!

Other animals, including humans like you and me, can’t have that kind of wild, spine-tingling, sun up to sundown sex without a healthy dose of meat in our diets. Sure, the vegans will tell you otherwise. Of course they will, telling the truth would let everybody know just how lame their sex lives really are.

Beef, pork, poultry, dairy, and shellfish are more than just delicious. They also provide your body with nutrients necessary to power your most complex processes and activities, including sex. The most obvious is plain ol’ protein.

Protein power your love life

Let me begin by spelling out the dangers of low protein diets on our sex lives. Researchers say people who do not eat enough protein are at risk for low testosterone levels, which can cause a decline in sexual function as well as muscle loss, reduced red blood cells, and damage to bones. The real subject here is testosterone, but you should keep in mind that veganism equals muscle loss, anemia, and osteoporosis.

People who do not eat meat are particularly at risk, because animal products are good sources of high biological value proteins. Dr. Christopher Longcope, of the University of Massachusetts medical school, says his latest findings mean the elderly in particular should be counseled about the importance of eating enough protein. He found that low protein diets lead to increases in sex hormone-binding globulin in older men, which reduces the availability of testosterone, reports BBC News. Put in a simpler way, low protein diets (they should have said low animal protein diets) reduce testosterone levels.

A spokeswoman for the Vegan Society said there was not usually a problem of low protein intake for vegans, who do not eat meat or dairy products. “It is just sensible to eat a varied diet,” she said. “As long as you are doing that, you will be fine.”

You see what I mean about vegan mentality? They probably think this puffball statement makes sense. You will not be fine.

You will be sickly looking, passive, and cranky. (That is not a scientific observation but a personal one.) We’ll see just how sexually appealing you are then. The way I see it, that’s just one more reason for those vegans to be jealous of us hale and hearty, meat-eating types.

Those of us who actually have the stomach to eat real food get the nutrients that keep our bodies young, virile, and, on the whole, desirable. Eating radishes, kale, and pomegranates is all well and good when you’re a bunny, but the ladies aren’t lining up around the block to sleep with Peter Cottontail. They want a tiger, and he gets what he needs from eating animals as well as other foods.

And one of the many stripes keeping the tiger in high demand: Zinc.

Boost your testosterone the all-natural way

The average vegan doesn’t “get it on” nearly as much as we hearty meat-eaters because their diet is lacking in zinc, a key mineral necessary for the production of what makes you want to get it on in the first place. Of course, I’m talking about that all-important hormone, testosterone.

Your pituitary gland releases two hormones, called luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)–both of which are necessary to stimulate the production of testosterone. If you’re not getting enough zinc, your pituitary gland won’t release LH and FSH, and you’ll end up with too little testosterone.

But that’s not all zinc does–it also helps you hold on to testosterone once it’s produced. Your body has an enzyme called aromatase that converts testosterone into excess estrogen. It’s zinc’s job to inhibit this enzyme– and to help maintain higher levels of testosterone.

One of the reasons men begin to lose their sex drive as they age is because their testosterone to estrogen ratio becomes smaller. In people who are deficient in zinc, that gap narrows long before they reach their golden years.

But even as a proud meat-eater, don’t think you’re in the clear–because if you’re not careful, you could find yourself in the same zinc-deficient, libido-less boat.

Since the best sources of zinc are meat, dairy products, and shellfish, it’s easy to see why your average vegan would be “tired all the time.” Yes, it’s possible to get zinc through non-meat sources like pumpkin seeds and pecans, but they don’t even have enough zinc to reach the USDA’s recommended daily allowance of the nutrient (which, at 11 mg/day, is far too low to begin with).

But making sure you have enough zinc to liven your libido requires more than loading up on sources that are high in the nutrient. You could load up on zinc ’til it’s oozing out of your pores, but if you’re stuffing your face with foods that are known to deplete your stores, the end result will still be the same.

The main libido leeches are sources like whole grains and beans–a double whammy for vegetarians, since those are staples of their deficient, tasteless diets. A diet low in animal protein can have the same result as well. (One more point in meat’s corner!)

I recommend supplementing with zinc every day–just in case–since it’s so vital to the proper functioning of the male reproductive system. Take 25-50 mg. daily.

Of course, zinc isn’t the only factor involved in livening up your love life. Ginseng is known for its desire-boosting capabilities. I recommend taking four to six capsules a day.

To promote healthy circulation, be sure to load up on vitamin E and fish oil. Both are thought to increase blood flow. Try taking 400 I.U.s of vitamin E daily.
