Plagued by aches and pains?
Take action to knock them out with my simple, 4-step program

When you’ve lived as long as I have, you learn a few things along the way (like the fact that your wife really will turn out to be just like her mother…). And here’s something else you can file in the “sad, but true” category: There can be a fine line between pleasure and pain.

The sad fact is, if you’re experiencing more aches and pains as the years tick by, it could be the result of the very things you enjoy doing the most.

Golfing, knitting, piano playing, gardening, you name it—all of these and more can eventually lead to pain that will not only keep you from doing the things you love, but that can also make everyday living pretty difficult in the process.

The problem is that repetitive movements can lead to tendon injuries, and once your tendon is damaged, recovery can be a challenge. Tendons are notoriously stubborn healers (more on that in a minute), and often times healing falls into the “one step forward, two steps back” category.

But I’ve conquered a lot worse things in my day than a little tendonitis—and I’m going to help you do the same. I’ve boiled it down to four simple steps—a 4-step guide to tendon health, if you will—that could get you back to doing the things you love—pain-free—in no time.

Step 1: Don’t become a victim of a misdiagnosis

If you think you’re one of the tens of thousands of people suffering from joint pain, I’ve got news for you. Your doctor would never admit this to you, but it can be difficult for him to determine the root cause of your pain. And because joint pain is more common, it’s more frequently diagnosed—whether you have it or not.

But sometimes, what feels like joint pain to you might in fact be an injury to the soft tissue that connects your muscles to your bones: tendons. An ultrasound or a thorough physical exam would tell your doc everything he needs to know if he bothers to do one. If not, you could very well walk out of his office with a misdiagnosis.

Even worse, if you don’t get a proper diagnosis and address the tendon injury, you could develop scar tissue, lose full range of motion in the joint, or in a worst-case scenario, your tendon could even rupture.

Step 2: Be wary of mainstream’s so-called “solutions”

When it comes to injuries like these, getting a proper diagnosis is only the beginning of your problems. The healing process is a whole other can of worms. The fact of the matter is, there aren’t a whole lot of options for healing a damaged tendon.

Yes, anti-inflammatory drugs might (might) control the pain for a while, but they’ll never fix the problem. And to make matters worse, there is evidence to suggest that they may actually slow the healing process.

Step 3: Begin physical therapy

Like it or not, no tendon problem will ever fully heal unless you do physical therapy. The way to strengthen your tendons is by using them. The trick, however, is to not overuse them—remember, that’s how you got injured to begin with.

When you have a tendon injury, let the pain be your guide. This is no time to play “macho man”—pushing through the pain of a tendon injury will only make matters worse.

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of great options for treating tendonitis besides physical therapy and rest. And even if you do “all the right things,” there’s a good chance the injury will come back to haunt you time and again for the rest of your life.

When it comes right down to it, the reality can be pretty grim if you have a tendon injury—but it doesn’t have to be. And that’s where Step 4 provides some hope…

Step 4: Feed your tendons the nutrients they need for optimal healing

One of the main reasons tendons take so long to heal is because the lack of blood flow to the tendon causes the cells to multiply at a much slower rate. The

end result is a healing process that seems to take place in slow motion—and a tendon that is extremely vulnerable to re-injury.

The patients also experienced an improvement in all quality of life areas. There was a statistically significant improvement in the degree to which their injury affected their daily activities, their social life, and their mental health.
